inner kingdom

Love serves.

I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered when I receive news about you. I have no one else like him, who will show genuine concern for your welfare.  For everyone looks out for their own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.  But you know that Timothy has proved himself, because as a son with his father he has served with me in the work of the gospel..  Philippians 2:19-24

I have been day-dreaming recently.  There are so many things that have captured my attention in this world.  The issues of the day seem to pull me onto an emotional roller-coaster.    The lack of humanity, social issues, political issues, relational issues, and the list extends even further when I include my own issues😄. I have tried not to engage in these areas fully, thinking that I would be distracted, and pre-occupied from more pressing tasks. But, I feel passionate about many things going in this moment. And since my inner voice is telling me that I must live my truth. I need to be open when appropriate to speak it. You may ask, what is grabbing my attention? Hate and the failure to understand how unique and valuable life is. What has captured my attention? The need to speak on behalf of love.

What calls to you?

I am a seeker! I was raised in a Christian household yet, I had so many questions about faith and spirituality. Lacking a teacher who could respond, I turned to reading books. I would spend hours in the bookstore. I was missing something. I would come to understand that my questions were the keys to unlock the insight and discovery that I was seeking. The more I discovered, the more my life changed. I began to recognize that I was growing and maturing because I was open to seeking and asking questions. Today, I embrace my questions and I await the answers. I know now that they are coming, having been waiting for me to harness the courage to ask them in the first place.

Seek and you shall find

Being a seeker has guided me into a special relationship with the community of faith and humanity at large. I see God bigger than my mind can conceive. I recognize that everything exists in Him. There is nothing outside of Him. When I look at my neighbor, I challenge myself to see the face of God, ‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ Acts 17:28 NIV. People who love like Christ are needed in order to change this world. Peace doesn’t need war, it needs love. Hatred doesn’t need force, it needs love. Love takes courage and I am praying that I will always have it!

Serve with love

I would rather be hated for who I love than loved for who I hate. -Bishop Veron Ashe

My pastor and mentor taught me that love is the greatest force on this planet.  I was his mentee and my role was to learn through service. It was challenging because to serve is not a goal to achieve rather it is a lifestyle to acquire. Just as a parent teaches a child to say , thank you, a disciple learns through service the attributes of Christ. Jesus Christ came to demonstrate to us how to love.  He served because He was motivated by love. It is through love that we learn to serve, putting others needs above our own. He showed us that love is not a sign of weakness but rather insurmountable strength. So, I write to ask every reader to love to serve and to serve to love. Love and serve!
